Should I choose a curtain track or a curtain pole?

Both have their advantages, and the right choice depends on your room, your style and the type of curtains you're having made.

Curtain poles

Curtain poles are designed to be seen.

Available in wood, metal and a wide range of finishes, they can become an attractive design feature in the room.

They're particularly popular in traditional homes or where you want decorative finials to add personality.

Curtain tracks

Tracks are designed to be discreet.

They sit close to the ceiling or wall, allowing the curtains themselves to become the focal point.

Modern tracks are incredibly smooth to operate and are often the preferred option for contemporary interiors.

• Ideal for wave curtains.

• Can be bent for bay windows.

• Excellent for ceiling fixing.

Which works best?

If you want your hardware to be a feature, choose a pole.

If you'd rather the curtains take centre stage, a track is often the better option.

For many of my clients, particularly those choosing wave curtains, I recommend a quality track because it creates such a clean, elegant finish.

Don't forget the installation

Even the most beautiful curtains won't look their best if the track or pole isn't installed correctly.

Positioning, height and projection all make a huge difference to how the finished curtains hang.

That's why careful measuring and professional fitting are just as important as choosing the right fabric.

There's no universally better option.

Both curtain tracks and poles can look fantastic when they're chosen to suit the room and fitted correctly.
